McCann Worldgroup has been awarded a Silver Employer award in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index for its commitment to inclusion of lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer people in the workplace.

The Silver Employer award is in recognition of the agency network’s ongoing efforts to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace working in partnership with the world’s second-largest LGBTQ+ charity as an official Stonewall Diversity Champion since 2019.

In 2020, McCann Worldgroup launched the TruePride Alliance in the UK, a network-wide initiative to nurture and advocate for LGBTQ+ voices, harness and champion the lived truths of the LGBTQ+ community and create a platform on which to let those voices flourish. The TruePride Alliance provide peer-to-peer support and mentorship, guidance on inclusive HR policies, and champion LGBTQ+ representation across key touchpoints of the business.

Rodney Collins, SVP, Director, Europe & UK, McCann Worldgroup Truth Central and founding member of the TruePride Alliance, said: “Our progress to date is due to a collective effort that started on the ground floor and coalesced across our UK-wide group in the context of the pandemic. The commitment, collaboration, and inclusivity that this community exercised is a legacy that I’m certain will continue to not only shape our culture as company, but also extends into our client and partner relations and the potential for our creative product to positively impact LGBTQ+ communities.”

Bertille Calinaud, Regional Director, DE&I, UK & Europe, McCann Worldgroup, said: “We are delighted that McCann Worldgroup has received a Silver Employer award for its first Stonewall submission. This recognises the work we have done on making sure everything we do is inclusive from all our policies to creating meaningful connections between colleagues, ensuring McCann Worldgroup is for everyone. Our teams do amazing work with clients to earn a meaningful role in people’s lives by ensuring true and authentic representation of the LGBTQ+ communities. We are committed to do more and this award gives us confidence we are on the right track.”

Alongside the launch of the Workplace Equality Index 2022, Stonewall is launching its #BringYourselfToWork campaign to highlight the importance of inclusion for lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer people and the life-changing impact of being able to bring your whole self to work.

Liz Ward, Director of Programmes at Stonewall (she/her), said: “We spend so much of our time at work, and our career can be a huge part of how we define ourselves. Every single lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer person should be able to be themself at work. From understanding how HR policies, such as parental leave, will affect them, to being reassured that they can speak openly about their lives and partners at the coffee machine, the impact of inclusive workplaces can be life-changing.

“It’s fantastic that McCann Worldgroup has gained a Silver Employer award for their efforts and commitment to creating an inclusive work environment, and we look forward to seeing and supporting the rest of their inclusion journey.”
